This section gives supplementary information on microbiological method validation for alternative methods. Commission Regulation (EC) No 2073/2005 on microbiological criteria for foodstuffs foresees the use of alternative analytical methods when they are validated against the reference method according to ISO 16140 “Protocol for validation of alternative methods” or other internationally accepted similar protocol.  To download EURL protocols for validated alternative methods please see the Methods section.
